Discover Sainte-Foy Tarentaise
Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise was originally renowned for its extensive off piste powder, its uncrowded pistes and lack of lift queues. It is a close neighbour of larger resorts such as Tignes, Val d’Isere and Les Arcs but retains an understated feel with traditional architecture of round stone columns, slate roofs and wooden fascias.
Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise is a beautiful resort with traditional wooden chalets built with slate roofing. It lies in the Tarentaise Valley in Savoie and ranges in altitude from 1550m up to 2650m. The village and its surroundings have maintained a listed status since the 1930’s ensuring all building work and other development retains its authentic charm and fits into the traditional environment. The village is beginning to grow with many luxury chalets and apartments now being developed, integrating old style with modern interiors. It is a welcoming and family orientated resort with something to offer all ages and abilities both in the summer and winter.

Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise offers access to skiing and boarders of all levels. It is also much less expensive than many of its better-known neighbours such as Tignes, Val d’Isere, Les Arcs and La Plagne which are between 15 minutes to 30 minutes away by car and offer a multitude of skiing options with a combined 1000kms of ski pistes on the doorstep when you include La Rosiere and La Thuile (Espace Bernardo). In the resort there are 30kms of pistes served by 6 lifts, mostly blue and red in difficulty. Because the pistes range from 1550m up to 2650m mainly on north-west facing slopes there is usually more than adequate snow for a long winter season. The mountain itself is split between a huge powder bowl at the top, popular with heli-skiiers and snowboarders and the mainly tree-lined lower slopes, with many of the ski runs winding through the forest straight down to the village. There is a snow boarding park at Cret Serru at 2040m. Combined with skiing and snowboarding there is also dog sledding , snow shoeing, a recreation centre with a spa and pool, torchlit ski runs, concerts and street entertainment, making this a popular family resort.
Sainte-Foy-Tarentaise is a beautiful resort in the summer. There are many traditional farming methods still in place giving it a quaint and rustic feel. Wonderful views can be enjoyed from the 70km of footpaths that pass through high mountain pastures filled with cattle and unspoilt villages. It is close to the Vanoise national park which also borders the Gran Paradiso National Park on the Italian side. These parks together offer over 1250km2 of hiking making them the largest alpine national park and a draw for walkers of all ability. It is also home to one of the largest herd of Ibex in the Alps. The resort is home to a large mountain biking area which combines with some of the MTV tracks on offer in the neighbouring resorts of Tigne, Val d’Isere and Les Arcs. Also on offer is white water rafting along the Isere river, paragliding, rock climbing, horse riding and archery as well as a leisure centre with a swimming pool and spa. Alternatively swim al fresco in the mountain lakes.
