Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is not a recent purpose-built resort. It has a year-round population, rather than just seasonal visitors, and is full of historical buildings which give it a traditional charm much sought after in the Alps. Away from the hustle and bustle of more famous resorts, St. Gervais offers a vintage alpine feel with great eating options and panoramic views of the Mont Blanc massif.
Saint-Gervais-les-Bains is surrounded by the Alps’ highest peaks with brilliant connections to Chamonix “the valley of the Kings” and surrounding resorts in the Pays du Mont Blanc area. St. Gervais is no winter slouch offering plenty of skiing in its own right. Most train journeys are dull yet in contrast St. Gervais can offer the iconic Saint-Gervais-les-Bains-Le Fayet. This historic Mont Blanc Tramway departs from Le Fayet station and reaches the Nid D’Aigle at the Bionnassay glacier at an altitude of 2372 m. It is also served by a wealth of dining options making it a popular destination for weekend visitors as well as those wishing to buy an alpine second home.

Saint-Gervais-les-Bains offers access to the third largest ski area in France with the Ski Pass Evasion Mont Blanc. There are 445 km of pistes which encompasses Megève, Combloux, Les Contamines and La Giettaz. For skiing and snowboarding, there are 263 km of slopes served by 80 lifts. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 850 and 2,353 m. It is perfect for young families not seeking a heavy nightlife with beginners’ pistes totalling 98km. A further 134km of intermediate pistes is followed by expert (black runs) at 31km.
The summer has plenty to offer, the natural thermal springs have been attracting visitors wanting to benefit from its hydrotherapeutic properties for centuries. In conjunction with this it has 180km of excellent hiking and biking trails as well as the famous 100 mile Tour Du Mont Blanc just a stone’s throw away. Other summer attractions such as canyoning, canoeing and parapenting are all situated locally.
