Valloire is a charming and traditional village resort that is renowned for its hospitality. This dates back from when the villagers used to open their doors to the travelling salesmen that braved the journey. Valloire is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful villages in the Maurienne Valley and it is surrounded by dramatic peaks. Valloire is a long standing ski resort and was first opened in 1934. It cemented an alliance with the neighbouring resort of Valmeinier when the two resorts were connected back in 1974. Valloire has also been on the Tour de France cycle route since 1911.
