Introducing Chalet Le Ruisseau – NOW SOLD
Chalet Le Ruisseau is a luxurious 5 bedroom/5 bathroom ski in/ski out chalet in Villars. Built in 2001 by the current owners, it was designed with a growing family in mind and combines modern living with a traditional build, fantastic views and great attention to detail.
Why is Chalet Le Ruisseau so special?
This is a unique chalet in a superb position nestled on the slopes above Villars. Let’s take a look at why Chalet Le Ruisseau is so special…
Chalet Le Ruisseau was built by the current owners to suit their growing family, to take them from toddlers through to teenagers. The design is ideal and would suit most families as no stone has been left unturned. From bunk bed rooms through to a separate annexe fitted with 5 single beds and an ensuite bathroom above the garage, as well as a recreation room, the needs of a family have been beautifully interpreted from the outset.
The chalet is 315m2 with 5 double bedrooms (1 annexe room) with 5 ensuite bathrooms. There is also a double garage and a ski room. Special highlights are the Klafs sauna, the heated plunge pool and the underfloor heating. Combined with stunning double height windows, huge wrap around balconies and unobstructed views as well as being in a ski in/ski out position, Chalet Le Ruisseau is outstanding in every sense of the word.
A word from the current owners.
Why did you choose Villars to build Chalet Le Ruisseau?
Villars appealed to us because it has genuine dual season attributes, with extensive skiing and walking opportunities, coupled with easy access from Geneva airport. The resort is discreet, with just the right balance between exclusiveness and warmth.
Since we arrived in 2002, the infrastructure has been incrementally improved without impacting on the environment, and future plans to upgrade and pedestrianise Villars centre will add to its appeal.
You very much have a sense that Villars hides its charms to avoid being overrun – those who know it are fully aware how remarkable it is. Our guests always remark how beautiful it is, and wonder why they have never been aware of it before.
We also wanted to be in a French speaking canton, with easy access and year round activities for our family. Villars simply ticked all the boxes.
Were you involved in the design and how would you describe Chalet Le Ruisseau?
The chalet was designed by a firm in Montreux, to our specification. The core brief was to combine a modern feel with traditional wooden building techniques.
The outside is untreated larch, and inside the walls are either natural larch or painted. The ground floor has a mountain room to hold all the gear for skiing and walking, and a double height living area to take full advantage of the views.
There is an open plan kitchen and the dining area can seat 16. The lower ground floor has 2 bedrooms and a sauna. The upper floor has 2 further bedrooms, and a study area. Above the 2 car garage is an additional guest suite with 5 single beds and an ensuite bathroom.
There are extensive outside balconies and terraces, and a stone lined heated plunge pool outside and there are amazing unobstructed views.
What has been your family’s experience of living/holidaying in Villars?
Our sons have been able to ski from the chalet and return when they want – a significant advantage with no need to climb into a car. Two have worked in the Villars ski school before University.
We have walked, biked, played golf, squash and tennis, and have swum in rivers and lakes. For 16 years we have spent most school holidays in the chalet. If anyone wants to visit the bars in town, they can get there in 5 minutes and the chalet is ideal for the children to host friends.
What have been your favourite things to do in Villars?
We ski all over the Villars area, and usually go to Les Diablerets and Glacier 3000. There are extensive snowshoe trails, and we ski tour from the chalet door. The new MagicPass card has opened up access to the surrounding resorts so it is easy to head off for the day.
Walking straight from the chalet is a major plus, with no need to drive, and the summer alpine flowers are a total pleasure.
It’s possible to walk from the chalet to several excellent restaurants (L’Etable and Refuge de Frience). We also love Lac des Chavonnes, Refuge Col de Soud, and Cookies.
