The Paradiski Area Explained

Before focusing on the charming village of Champagny-en-Vanoise,  we’d like to give you a short synopsis of the Paradiski Area which is well known in the ski world. Paradiski is made up of Les Arcs, La Plagne and Peissy-Vallandry, which are well connected to their outlying, satellite neighbours. These are the 3 well known village areas which offer skiing up to a snow-sure 3250m2 and which make up the Paradiski Domaine. Combined, the resorts of Paradiski offer the following:

  • A great variety of pistes including open pistes as well as runs through the trees and snow parks.
  • Suitability for all skiing abilities, snowboarders and skiers alike.
  • 425km of downhill skiing, 141 ski lifts, 475 pistes in total.
  • 69 black runs, 127 red runs, 257 blue runs.
  • A vast array of ski in/out accommodation.
  • 2 hours from Geneva airport.

Champagny-en-Vanoise

Let’s introduce Champagny-en-Vanoise, a charmingly traditional and picturesque French village with a thriving and welcoming community that has been linked to the Paradiski Domaine since 2003, via the Vanoise Express.

The village has expanded since 2003 yet has managed to retain its rustic charm with sensitive planning. It has carefully preserved the village square in the centre of the village which is filled with places to eat such as pizzerias, creperies and traditional Savoyard restaurants, as well as the boulangeries, patisseries and delicatessen counters that you would hope to see. What;s more there are bars, cafés, ski shops, pretty souvenir shops – plenty of retail therapy!

In terms of buying property here, if you are looking for a traditional resort with a great link into 425km of downhill skiing and good value for money, then look no further. You can get more for your money here than in its larger neighbours, yet you have access to the identical ski area. Moreover Champagny-en-Vanoise is such a friendly place that being absorbed and welcomed into the French way of life in this village is an easy win.

We currently have a selection of apartments available in the new project of La Valloise which is due for completion in December 2025. There are only 15 apartments ranging in size from 1-5 bedrooms, with prices starting at EUR 330,000 for a 1 bedroom apartment and EUR 902,000 for a 5 bed duplex, it would be hard to beat these prices in the better known ski areas.

Winter in Champagny-en-Vanoise

It is only 7 minutes from Champagny-en-Vanoise to the interconnecting ski lifts that whisk you into the main Paradiski Domaine. However there are also several pistes in the local ski area, mainly red and blue runs which are great for beginners and intermediates plus some challenging off piste skiing for those in the know. The resort is very popular with snow boarders as the slopes down to the village are wide and long, and there is also a snowboard park. The lower slopes are well protected by the tree cover and tend to keep the snow depth reasonably well, however they are also supported by snow cannons that enable the runs to stay open as long as possible. The Vanoise National Park is also a source of great winter outdoor pursuits with large parts of it open for snow shoe walking and ski touring.

The Vanoise National Park is on the doorstep and was the first National Park to be created in France back in 1963. It is linked with the Grand Paradis National Park in Italy and together they offer the largest protected area in the Western Alps. Ibex and chamois have been able to roam freely for decades and the marmot population is large so you will not get a better opportunity to see the mountain wildlife than here. The park is protected by 35 wildlife officers and rules are very strict. Most visiting will need to be done on foot although there is one mountain bike trail through the park called La Grande Plagne which starts in Champagny-en-Vanoise.
