The Portes du Soleil ranks among the two largest ski areas in the world, boasting over 650km of marked pistes with 201 lifts in total and spread over 14 valleys, making Les Gets a fantastic ski destination. There are 2 ski areas in Les Gets, Mont-Chery on one side and Les Chavannes on the other side linking to the rest of the Portes de Soleil. There are pistes for skiiers of all abilities and include Nordic ski trails, a beginners’ zone and a Wild West sport area of children. The pistes are largely through forests making them spectacularly beautiful. There are numerous mountain restaurants for those requiring some time out. There are 65 pistes in Les Gets with 53 ski lifts covering an area of 110km of downhill pistes and 17km of cross country pistes. The beauty of this resort is that there is something for all abilities and a reasonable skier can ski the majority of The Portes du Soleil on blues and reds including a trip to Switzerland and back in one day.
What to do first in Les Gets? There is a wealth of mountain trails for walking and taking in the spectacular scenery overlooking the panoramic Mont Blanc range and surrounding mountains. Home to one of the largest MTB downhill bike parks in Europe with 13 downhill tracks, including a 3 hectare Jump Park and numerous X-Country trails. On the Crete de Chavanne ridge is a spectacular 18 hole golf course with unrivalled views over the Dents Blanches to the south east and Mont-Blanc to the south west. Combine all the above with an aqua park, paragliding, trail running, bowling, archery, a swimming lake and more and you will enjoy a wonderful summer in Les Gets.
