More Information

Morzine

Situated in the Portes du Soleil region spanning the Franco-Swiss border, between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, Morzine is a great base from which to explore all that the region has to offer, both in the summer and winter. There are many hotels, restaurants and bars giving the village a busy feel yet it still manages to retain an authentic charm. Morzine is the busiest of the many interconnecting resorts of the Portes du Soleil. Situated at the end of a picturesque valley, it is a resort with a colourful history and beautiful traditional Savoyard buildings. Popular with families and hard-core winter and summer sports enthusiasts due to its partially forested slopes and walking paths, it sits in the middle of one of the most extensive skiing and hiking regions in Europe. There is a wealth of dual season activities to choose from, including skiing, ice skating, toboganning, snow shoeing, hiking, swimming, mountain biking, tennis, summer luge, canyoning and parapenting. A buzzing and action-packed resort seen by many as a premier alpine destination.

Winter

The Portes du Soleil ranks among the two largest ski areas in the world, boasting over 650km of marked pistes with 201 lifts in total and spread over 14 valleys. Morzine is mainly a beginner/intermediate ski resort providing easy access into the slopes of the Portes du Soleil with Les Gets on one side of the valley and into Switzerland through the Super Morzine telecabine with Avoriaz on the other side of the valley. The purpose-built resort of Avoriaz provides higher altitude skiing to thrill powder seekers. There are 66 pistes in Morzine with 46 ski lifts. 5 main lift stations are available from Morzine connecting to the wider Portes du Soleil ski area. These are the Super Morzine, Pleney, Lindarets, Prodains and the Ardent gondola. The real advantage of this resort is that there are enough easily accessible pistes for all abilities to enjoy.

Summer

Morzine is a thrill seeker’s delight as well as offering numerous activities for those that enjoy a more sedate experience.

With its extensive summer lift system it is easy to enjoy all that Morzine has to offer with its lush mountain pastures, waterfalls, forests and mountain lakes.

Morzine is a premier mountain biking destination with some of the most extensive terrain in Europe with over 650km or marked trails with routes through forests and challenging downhill as well as 4 bike parks. All this has been carefully managed to ensure it does not detract from the traditional feel of the town.

This is a summer playground for many, offering biking, hiking, canyoning, canoeing, white water rafting, Via Ferrata and parapenting to name a few of the more strenuous summer activities on offer. In the centre of the village there is also an aquatic centre with large outdoor and indoor pools, sauna and hammam, as well as tennis courts.
