In recent years, Andermatt has undergone significant development, including the construction of new hotels, apartments, and a golf course. The town is also the site of a major real estate development project known as “Andermatt Swiss Alps,” which aims to transform the town into a world-class destination for year-round tourism. This CHF 2 billion project will include six hotels, 42 apartment buildings, 9800m2 of retail and gastronomy, the only concert hall in an alpine destination and a championship 18 hole golf course. Most importantly for property buyers, the resort has a total exemption on the Lex Koller and Weber meaning foreigners may buy one or more properties without needing a permit. Property prices have been steadily rising with appreciation of 73% in the 10 years since 2013.
