Discover Veysonnaz

A charming, quiet and family-friendly resort at 1400 metres on a shelf overlooking the Rhone valley. The skiing is extensive and excellent in its own right, but it is also at the eastern end of the 4 Valleys ski area and so connects into the Nendaz and Verbier terrains. Veysonnaz is increasingly seen as the smart value option for buyers wanting to be in the 4 Valleys and who can find larger accommodation at a lower price than its neighbours.

Veysonnaz sits on a shelf at 1400m overlooking Nendaz to the west, the Bernese Alps to the north and the Rhone valley below. The village is popular with families and has a number of hotels, bars and restaurants, two small supermarkets, village shops and a swimming pool/spa. Two high-speed gondolas whisk you up to 2000 metres and straight into the 4 Valleys ski area with magnificent views of some of Switzerland’s highest peaks. There are plans to build a cable car linking Veysonnaz directly to the valley floor at Sion railway station. Not only will this increase the attractions to local buyers, who can commute daily from their mountain home to work in the valley, but also to holidaymakers who arrive directly by train to Sion and will not need to hire a car to get up the mountain. There is availability to buy chalets and architect-designed ski-in ski-out apartments at a fraction of the price of its more fashionable neighbour Verbier.

  • Dual season resort in 4 Valleys ski area, the largest in Switzerland with 410km of pistes

  • Home to the legendary World Cup ski run, the Piste de L’Ours

  • Ideal for families and less expensive to buy/rent than Verbier yet with access to the same skiing

  • 2 hours from Geneva airport and 15 minutes from Nendaz and Sion, the region’s capital

  • Abundant snow cannons ensure a long season

Although Veysonnaz is further east than neighbouring resort Nendaz, it is equally as easy to access the 4 Valleys ski area over to Verbier in the west. Two high speed 8-person gondolas bring you to Thyon 2000 where the area around the famous Teepee is the focal point for all-day eating and drinking in the sun with a backdrop of music. There is a wide selection of beginner, intermediate and expert slopes as well as some of the most challenging off-piste in the 4 Valleys. Described by a French downhill ski racer as “ the most beautiful piste in the world”, the Piste de L’Ours (translated as “The Bear’s Run” as the piste is carved out of the local forest named after the bears that once roamed in it) is a long undulating ski run lined by trees and the scene of many FIS World Cup downhill competitions. Forest tracks for cross country skiers and snowshoe walkers bring you to sun-clad restaurants with stunning mountain views and hearty local fare.

The canton of Valais, where the 4 Valleys is situated, is the sunniest part of Switzerland with 300 days of sunshine a year, making the summer season as enjoyable as winter. There are 300km of footpaths in the area ranging from family-friendly walks to more challenging excursions. The area is famous for its bisses, medieval irrigation channels that were dug to channel glacial meltwater to the plains and vineyards of the Rhone valley. Footpaths follow the water’s journey through the fields and woods. Aside from walking there are mountain bike trails, a swimming pool, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts in the village. Sion, capital of Valais and a bustling and attractive town, is fifteen minutes away. Famous for its medieval fortified twin hillocks, it is also the centre of the region’s winegrowing with numerous tastings at the local caves. The train station provides direct access to Geneva in the west and Milan in the east, both within two hours.
